[7:17]  1 tn Heb “according to.”

[7:17]  2 tn Heb “[to] the name of the Lord Most High.” God’s “name” refers metonymically to his divine characteristics as suggested by his name, in this case the compound “Lord Most High.” The divine title “Most High” (עֶלְיוֹן, ’elyon) pictures God as the exalted ruler of the universe who vindicates the innocent and judges the wicked. See especially Ps 47:2.

[89:8]  3 tn Traditionally “God of hosts.” The title here pictures the Lord as enthroned in the midst of the angelic hosts of heaven.

[103:22]  4 tn Heb “all his works,” which includes mankind.

[103:22]  5 tn Heb “places.”

[104:1]  6 sn Psalm 104. The psalmist praises God as the ruler of the world who sustains all life.

[104:1]  7 tn Heb “very great.”

[129:8]  8 tn The perfect verbal form is used for rhetorical effect; it describes an anticipated development as if it were already reality.
